As Museum Girl London, Katherine McAlpine acts as a critical friend to curators, academics and creative practitioners, helping their content reach the broadest possible audience.

In November 2017, she joined the Centre for Public Engagement at Queen Mary University of London, using her extensive experience and understanding of audiences to coach and mentor academic colleagues to deliver high quality public engagement projects.

She managed interpretation projects and an innovative live programme at the National Maritime Museum, part of Royal Museums Greenwich, engaging audiences with the collection, story of the site and contemporary relevance.

She writes and speaks on a range of Museum-related issues, including co-production with audiences,  site-specific theatre and failure as a learning tool.

She is one of London reps for the Museums Association and is a mentor for Group for Education in Museums. She is an alumni of the engage Extend leadership course.
